Why a Middle Georgia car gets tinted
Middle Georgia summers do the arguing for tint. A car parked in the sun is an oven by afternoon, the glare off a low sun makes the drive tiring, and an interior left in full light fades. Film takes the edge off the heat, the glare and the UV, and it gives you some privacy as well.
Tinting is on the door at Suite D. The window decal on the glass says WINDOW TINTING, and Brent does the work himself, in the bay behind it. You can book it on its own, or have it done alongside a glass job so the new glass and the film are handled in one visit.
Paul Fitzgerald wrote that Brent “provided with top quality tint glass,” in a review that was mostly about a replacement done at his home.
How Brent works in the bay
Step one is the conversation. Tell him the vehicle and which windows you want done: the rear glass only, the side windows, a liftgate on an SUV or a van. Step two is the legal question. Georgia sets legal limits on how dark front side windows can go, so ask Brent what is legal for your windows before you choose a shade.
Step three is the bay. Tint happens at Suite D, indoors and out of the wind, because film has to be cut to the shape of the glass and laid down without dust or grit trapped under it. Step four is the walk-round. Look over every window before you leave, and tell him about anything that does not look right.
Two vehicles in the shop show what the work looks like. A white Infiniti QX80 sits in the bay with its rear glass freshly tinted, the film gradient still visible. A Toyota Sienna has its liftgate glass out of the frame in one shot and new tinted glass fitted with retention tape in the next.
The first few days after tint goes on
Fresh film needs time to cure. Expect a little haze or small water bubbles for a few days while the film dries onto the glass, and expect them to clear on their own. Brent will tell you how long to give it, because it depends on the film, the weather and the window.
The usual guidance is to leave the windows up for a few days, leave the inside of the glass alone, and wait before you clean it. Hold off on the window controls, because a window that rolls down too early can catch the film edge and lift it. Brent will tell you what applies to your car.
If a window on the same vehicle is also cracked, a replacement and a tint can often be done together. Ask when you call (478) 972-7741, Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm.
